Annoying softwares like Spyware and Adware are software programs created by online marketers that monitor your online behaviour, collect marketing data, and bombard you with annoying pop-up ads. Unfortunately, these programs seem to be proliferating like spam, but don’t worry there are programs that can remove and protect your computer. Here you go:
- Get & install some software protection for your PC. There are lots of PC’s removal & protection products out there, and some of the best are free. Currently, the best programs available are Ad-Aware SE Personal Edition from Lavasoft (www.lavasoft.com) and Spybot Search & Destroy from Patrick Kolla (www.safer-networking.org). Both is free to be downloaded and installed at no cost.
- Another additional PC protection software that you can get at no cost (to stop pop-up ads with pop-up blocker programs) is by using & install Google’s toolbar (www.google.com) or Yahoo’s toolbar (www.yahoo.com).
- Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 also includes pop-up blocking capability and fills many of Windows security holes.
- Set your browser’s privacy settings to the highest tolerable levels; a high security level can disable some features on some websites. In Internet Explorer 6, go to Tools | Internet Options and select the Privacy tab. Move the slider to the desired setting (see Figure).

- Try to make a difference by using another internet browser. Firefox, Safari or Opera is an excellent browser that is less susceptible than Internet Explorer to invasive programs.

Dont forget your Firewall settings. Its often overlooked and it needs to be set correctly to thwart attacks.
