The Cool Phone T-Mobile Sidekick: Gekko

T-Mobile Sidekick: Gekko
While you’re busy with shopping and many other things, a mobile phone company T-Mobile just launched a whole brand new model Sidekick that’s both can afford by you and totally user customizable. -Video Reviews Here-

This little gadget called Sidekick has gone by quite few other names before as example LX, Slide and Sidekick 3, but this whole new model is simply named T-Mobile Sidekick, but many have been calling it as “Gekko” but not “Gecko” in “InternetGecko” ok, Just joking. T-Mobile Sidekick has been called “Gekko” since its details information hit the Internet.

Why Gekko, you think? Well, this particular model includes a package of interchangeable outer shells in black and lime green, and can add more to your collection by simply going to this website http://sidekickshells.skinit.com/. Here you will have many choice from pre-existing designs from Skin It, or just use your creativity to create your own with your personal photos, school logos, or anything else you can get in digital form. You’re really in complete control here. If you decide to use your own photos, you can choose from those stored in your computer hard drive or any images from a photo sharing site like Yahoo Flickr.

For creating your own shell, you can choose from three base colors (white, black, pink), before adding your own designs, text, and shapes. Skin It’s customizer tool really lets you resize your graphics, add layers, rotate them, text, fun shapes, and even change the base color of the shell itself should you change your mind (you can only choose from white, black or pink). For your info, each T-Mobile Sidekick shell sells for $14.99, so I’m sure this personalization option will be a hit among the cool kids.

Enough of that, let’s talk about this T-Mobile Sidekick: Gekko itself.

The truth, this phone is not much bigger than Apple iPhone. But, it’s taller and thicker, as additional it feels better than the skinny Apple iPhone in your hand. T-Mobile Sidekick’s LCD display screen itself is only 2.6-inches in measurement, which we should found it’s really small and a little dim unless you crank up the display brightness setting.

About the controls itself, i’m sure you will be extremely confusing. This T-Mobile Sidekick has buttons all around it so you better watch out how you hold the phone. The top side of the phone you’ll find a couple of function buttons like a mini-USB port, and a headphone jack. The bottom of the phone has volume buttons and the power button, which we will kept hitting accidentally because it’s badly located. All these buttons are quite small i think, but also very sensitive to touch which is a ‘no no’ when you keep hitting them by accident.

To the left of the screen is a Menu button, a speaker that doubles as a navigational pad, and a Jump button that takes you to the Sidekick’s main menu. Underneath the flip screen of this T-Mobile Sidekick is a backlit full QWERTY keyboard button that’s nicely spaced out, and easy to use if you have small fingers. To the right of this T-Mobile Sidekick, you’ll find the buttons of Cancel, End, Talk, and OK buttons along with a trackball.

The back of the phone has the camera lens, which I thought was also in a very badly located. Again you have to watch out how you hold the phone or you will ending up covering the lens with your fingers. This T-Mobile Sidekick: Gekko do a good job in picture quality even the camera is only 2 MPix (2-megapixels), and it produces terrible snapshots especially in low light conditions.

T-Mobile Sidekick’s video recording quality wasn’t that good, but at least it gives you the option to do video, unlike Apple iPhone. You will love this T-Mobile Sidekick because of how easy it is to check email, send IM (instant messages), customize your background graphics, organize your contacts, playing games, and enjoy your multimedia. It has an MP3 player, but you’ll need more than the default 512MB microSD card to store your songs.

This T-Mobile Sidekick: Gekko is actually a very cool and fun phone because once you get used to it, you will totally see why it appeals to the youngsters. For the value of $149.99 with a 2-year contract, you’re actually getting a quite great phone that has everything you need. Just name it: bluetooth functionality, Internet, IM, camera, video camera, email, gaming, Multimedia Messaging (MMS), it has it all.
