Sony Playstation 3 VS XBox 360
For the second month in a row, the Sony Playstation 3 beats the Microsoft Xbox 360 in aspects of monthly sales. Is this the time for Sony Playstation 3 to take the lead of new generation gaming consoles?

Ars Technica got its hands on the latest sales figures for gaming consoles, and the numbers speak for themselves. The Nintendo Wii, as usual, trumped its console competition with 432,000 units sold in February while the handheld Nintendo DS got an amazing 597,000 units sold, beside that the PlayStation 2—still quite a hit with senior gamers, apparently—came in at an impressive 351,800 units sold. Absolutely. no shockers there.

But, here comes the surprise, however: The Sony Playstation 3, which snared fourth place with 280,000 consoles sold. Meanwhile, the Microsoft Xbox 360 brought up the rear with just only 254,600 units sold in February—the second straight month that it’s trailed the Sony Playstation 3.

Because of that, Microsoft is blaming the Xbox 360’s sagging sales figures on low supply due to stronger-than-expected holiday sales, and it points out that five of the 10 top-selling games are XBox 360 titles (including the XBox 360 version of Call of Duty 4, which again lead the video game pack). But after so many months of being everyone’s favorite whipping gaming console, it seems the Sony Playstation 3 has caught a second wave.

Indeed, what was once perceived as the Sony PlayStation 3’s greatest weakness—its built-in Blu-ray drive, which jacked up the console’s price and delayed the Sony PS3’s launch by a year—suddenly looks like a strength, now that Blu-ray has won the HD (Hi-definition) format war.

Also, the Sony Playstation 3 finally has a line-up of game worth talking about, including the Tomb Raider-esque Uncharted and its best-selling version of Devil May Cry series that is DMC 4. Ars Technica also points out some potential—and exclusive—blockbusters in the Sony PS3 pipe, including the all time greatest hits Metal Gear Solid 4 and Gran Turismo 5: Prologue.

Finally, what do you think about this gaming consoles war? Is the Sony Playstation 3 going to take the lead forever or Microsoft XBox 360 will re-plan a comeback?

Well being ahead in sales by roughly 30k isnt going bridge the gap since for the year as of FEB, the XBOX 360 has outsold the PS3 9 million to 3! I think the increase in sales is due to the fact people are starting to want Blu-Ray players and this is the cheapest and best player on the market as of now, not because it is such a gaming god….XBOX 360 is still the KING!

Maybe you’re right pal. It’s good to buy a gaming console with built in Blu-ray player. You can save your money too! but, if i’m going to buy a gaming console, then it must be Sony Playstation 3. I’m a Sony Playstation die-hard fans anyway. ;)
